For these sessions, work from a live model (hire a model or go to a local open studio). Refrain from using a photograph if possible.


Repeat the schedule as needed until mastery is achieved.

 

Session 1: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the chest (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme and envelope of the figure

 

Session 2: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the arm (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme and envelope of the figure

 

Session 3: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the hand and distal region of the arm (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme and envelope of the figure

 

Session 4: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of your choice, refining the technique utilized (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme and envelope of the figure

 

Session 5: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the pelvis, upper leg, and knee (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme and envelope of the figure

 

Session 6: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the lower leg and foot (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme, envelope, and shadow map of the figure

 

Session 7: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the skull and neck (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme, envelope, and shadow map of the figure

 

Session 8: (3 hours)

  • 1 hour- anatomy drawings of the facial features (5 minutes each)
  • 30 minutes- notans (1 to 5 minutes each)
  • 1.5 hours- scheme, envelope, and shadow map of the figure

 

We recommend drawing notans for 30 minutes out of any live model session you attend in order to warm up and become more familiar with drawing the human form.

 

We recommend drawing each piece of anatomy in quick sketch as many times as necessary to develop mastery before moving on to the next assignment.
